Одно из самых ярких впечатлений последних дней-лекция в Колумбийском Университете. Всю речь можно посмотреть на моем сайте. Держите отрывок: I’ve joined the political arena so that the bureaucrats can no longer siphon off public funds and steal taxpayers’ money.
If you want to grasp why economic distortions increased over the last years, look into Russia’s history.
Unlike the United States of America Russia has always been a paternalistic society. The Russians pay a high price for it. The interests of the state are considered more important than individual rights. That is why the state infringes upon human rights. Russia is a great country – but it’s especially great in mobilizing its resources, whether to defeat aggressors or to modernize its economy, to catch up. The capacities of Russia are phenomenal. In 1917 the great number of Russians were illiterate, and in 1961 Russia sent a man into space. Its industries almost collapsed in the 1990s, and now Russia is largely digitalized. We need just a small correction – to put the individual first, ahead of the state.
When a country does not protect private property, its state is a step away from intruding into private lives of its citizens. The Russian government today increases its welfare spending because it’s afraid of independent and accomplished people who can support themselves and claim freedom. Market economy and competition set people free. We are enterprising people of many skills and we can survive and prosper without state support.
My message to the Kremlin is simple – leave us do our job and do yours instead!
The Russian government has increased federal spending. Yet, we have little to show for it. Russia’s economy is highly inefficient. Our bridges, roads and airports are few and many times more expensive than the most advanced constructions in the world. At the same time entrepreneurs are excessively taxed, and still twenty million Russians live below poverty line.
To sum up, I have a different vision for the Russian economy. I am first of all a believer. I believe that a liberal competitive economy can deliver new wealth for Russia.
